LOUERS vodka won the award for best ultra-premium vodka in the world this week. The brand, originating from Eindhoven, captured this prize during the Vodka Masters 2023 blind-tasting. This blind-tasting is organized annually by the international spirits platform The Spirits Business.

Each year, The Spirits Business gathers a group of expert judges to assess various drink categories during the Global Spirits Masters. The Vodka Masters is part of the internationally recognized Global Spirits Masters. This competition is the only blind-tasting competition that exclusively uses independent judges, thus having no ties with participating brands. The judging is conducted under strict conditions to ensure complete impartiality and a fair score for each participant. Each entry is judged on aroma, taste, and overall balance.

That the Dutch vodka brand received the highest recognition is still hard for founder Willem Louwers to comprehend. After a long development phase, LOUERS vodka was launched in 2021. Willem began developing the product during his Technical Business Studies at Fontys University of Applied Sciences in Eindhoven. After going through countless designs and samples day in and day out, the product reached its final form in 2021.

Besides the quality of the vodka, the standout feature is the bottle design. The bottle is covered with spikes, finished with a silver chrome coating with built-in LED lighting. Although the brand faced much criticism for this eccentric design, retailers, liquor stores, and clubs lined up en masse for the product. LOUERS vodka now has a distribution network spanning 38 countries, supplying more than 300 retail points.

What makes the ultra-premium vodka from LOUERS vodka so special is the craftsmanship combined with Dutch ingredients. All ingredients are sourced from Dutch soil and are assembled by Dutch craftsmen. The vodka is the result of a combination of Dutch hyper-filtered spring water and alcohol fermented from selected Dutch wheat. The patented LOUERS bottle is manually assembled and bottled. This is unique in the vodka industry and guarantees consistency in quality in every bottle produced.

LOUERS vodka walked away with the top award, described by tasting-expert Evan Prousaefs as having: “Lemon peel and freshly cut grass on the nose. Excellent mouthfeel with very long aftertaste and a hint of bitterness at the end.”
